Can a person delay the aging process?

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

I have something against those people who do nothing to look younger. Just because they are now in their forties or fifties, they let themselves “look” old, not necessarily “grow” old. While you can’t do anything about “growing” old, you surely can do something about “looking” old. I also agree that age is nothing but a number and how old you are is first how old you “think” you are. You can delay the aging process for as long as possible if you continue to “think” and “look” young all the time with Anti aging skin care

Today’s world of science has a lot of processes that help you look younger as you grow older. A lot of these processes have even gone commercial. This is why you can actually see a sixty year old looking thirty. But we are yet to see a process that stops you from dying.

You should not be surprised to learn of aged people besotted with disease still alive at this time. Even back in those ancient years, when there was no medicine or technology to facilitate it, people still stayed alive longer than you would expect. With all the anti aging procedures available to man, people are sure to live longer still.

Alzheimer’s disease has been a major source of concern for persons all over the world older than 65 years old. Anti aging focuses on solving this problem, as well a host of others that are associated with the aging process. A number of them are tissue engineering and genetic engineering, to mention but a few.

You should make a habit of exercising daily, whatever you are into. Anti aging processes work better on your body – and on your mind – if you are in state of wellbeing, both physically and mentally. Even your doctor will advise it.There are many new Anti Aging Discoveries.

How can we claim to be battling old age and death when we bring it upon our own heads both day and night? How can we hope to eat our cake and have it? As long as we continue to pollute this earth, we are bound to have newer diseases to battle. And no matter how many of them we overcome, we still will not live to see a hundred because there already is another that is ready to smother the very life out of us.

Leaders of women’s movements in the United States are amongst the most vocal concerning anti age actions. Many of what they preach counters the direction taken by gerontologists who think that there is something wrong with growing old. For instance, Betty Friedan’s book The Fountain of Youth paints positive outlooks on age and aging.

Centenarians have piloted airplanes, practiced medicine, danced, sculpted, taught in universities, graduated from universities, run for Congress, and fathered children through the course of their lives. What they have achieved, many of them are willing to share with any who would listen. From them you can learn easily that there is little need to fear old age and Anti Aging as it comes upon you. Instead you should embrace it as a fact of life, and you will so enjoy it.

King Of Durability: Leather Handbag

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

It has been often said that you get what you pay for.  This is, for the most part, a true statement because people who are in business want to make a profit.  Therefore, if the business sells a product that is cheap or inexpensive to make they can sell it for their cost and a bit extra to make a profit.  However, if the product is expensive and they sell it at a cheap price then it stands to reason that they are losing money.

Besides that there is nothing like the real thing.  One of those products in which a substitution doesn’t even come close to matching is a leather handbag.  This is because the texture of a leather handbag is hard to imitate.  Also, a real leather handbag has many benefits and with proper care will outlast other products.

The Texture Of A Leather Handbag

One of the wonderful things about leather is that the basic material can be treated or manufactured in different ways.  Examples of the way that leather handbags can be manufactured are by making the leather into suede, transformation into patent, imprinted, etc.

The Benefits Of A Leather Handbag

Generally, leather products are manufactured from the skin of cows.  This by-product from cattle is extremely beneficial in that the hides of cattle are very durable, strong and yet very supple or soft.

Because of this durability, it makes for a perfect material to make a handbag.   A leather handbag can be made entirely from leather or certain parts of the handbag can be made from the leather.

Examples can include the strap, the closure flap, the area where the straps meets the ends of the purse, etc.  If the purse is crafted in this manner it may add to the longevity of the handbag as these areas have a tendency to be areas of excess stress or constant use.

Caring For A Leather Handbag

After a leather handbag has been purchased it is important to properly care for the leather handbag.  This is important because through proper care a quality leather handbag will serve the owner a number of years if not longer.

Therefore, there are some important tips to put into practice when caring for a leather handbag.  Some of those tips include never storing a leather handbag in a plastic bag, storing the handbag from a hook, fixing any tears with rubber cement, using a leather product regularly on the leather handbag, etc.  Also, it is important to dry off the leather handbag immediately if the handbag is exposed to moisture.

The “Big Island” is called Hawaii (like the state), but the island with the most people is Oahu. Oahu has more things to offer as a result like what you would expect from a large vacation city. A vacation on Oahu has many perks and opportunities and is a place for families to feel at home as well.

If you are concerned about financing when planning your trip, you can take a few steps to make sure that you get a great deal for your money. Start by planning early so that you can take advantage of offers that are offered to early bird planners. All of them offer a good nights sleep, and many are cost effective. Some people like to spend time in different locations to experience more variety while on vacation.

You can have a more enjoyable vacation and save cash at the same time by choosing from one of many Hawaii travel packages available. Think of the memorable activities you can do in Hawaii, like attending a luau complete with a roasted pig. You can also take hula dancing lessons.

The Process of Demolition

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Introduction

The definition of the word ‘demolish’ is deliberate and controlled collapse of a structure. In the late 1970′s Fred Dibnah became the most famous steeplejack in Britain when his work on demolishing tall chimneys without the need for explosives was shown on Television. Fred was an specialist on repairing tall chimneys, so when it came to taking them down he knew just how to do it. He would cut an alcove at the base of the chimney, and then place wooden props to support the structure. By carefully positioning the props, the chimney would collapse in the right direction when the wood was set alight and burned away. Once he was nearly crushed when he miscalculated demonstrating how dangerous demolition work is.

The actual word to demolish only came into being in 1570, and was used after that to mean the deliberate taking down or destroying of a building or structure. Although in fact the process of demolition in some form or other has been occurring for thousands of years. Buildings have been destroyed either by natural disturbances of the Earth’s crust or during battles or attacks on communities for as long as there have been structures. The remaining ruins would be removed and rebuilt or used for other buildings nearby and must be the first examples of recycling.

Preserving the past – preparing the future.

To preserve Britain’s history of agriculture the land between built up areas of the villages and towns is protected from development of urban sprawl. This land is known as Green Belt and is preserved for farming which is vital to the continuing economy of the country. By containing the Green Belt, urban areas are squeezed to provide housing, so developers have to be more creative to find suitable sites.

Britain is a country with a very dense population per square mile. The amount of land available for development is limited compared to other countries. Therefore there is always a high demand for space on which to build. Taking down old and unused buildings and replacing them with new is one way to counteract this shortage.

Land that may be disused industrial and commercial sites, but could be contaminated with hazardous waste or pollution, are called Brownfield sites. Once the land has been cleaned up they are potentially valuable for redevelopment. Both Glasgow and South Wales created gardens out of old industrial sites and put in Shopping centres to attract visitors.

Greyfield sites are distinct from Brownfield sites in that they do not have the environmental concerns of toxic waste. The term greyfield comes from the large areas of asphalt which had once been car parks of commercial urban properties. Their value is in the fact that the infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water, sewage, and gas is already in place. These urban areas are underutilised or abandoned and are valuable because require very little remedial work to be utilised. Cities such as Leeds and Manchester have had a massive programme of converting the old warehouses or factories into apartments, shops and restaurants, retaining the original shell and refurbishing the interior into desirable accommodation.

The Demolition process

Before the actual demolition day arrives, make sure your contractor has addressed these points.

• The construction and size of the building.
• What items are valuable for re-use?
• How will the old site be re-used?
• How is the waste to be disposed of?
• Electricity water, sewage and gas mains.

Hydraulic excavators and bulldozers can be used to undermine the walls at the base, so that the structure will topple; at the same time controlling the manner and direction of the fall. Safety issues are paramount, and clean-up strategies are also taken into account when determining how the building will be demolished.

Traditional Demolition

Once all the services were disconnected, the men and machinery would go in and just knock down the walls. The whole structure would collapse and the resulting remains would be piled onto lorries and disposed of in landfill sites. Concrete foundation would be broken up by pneumatic drills and the site would be cleared of rubbish. However today demolition practices are subject to strict planning, safety and monitoring regulations and are highly controlled by the local authority.

Deconstruction and Recycling

The new approach to demolishing buildings is known as deconstruction – a green approach. Landfill sites are in short supply so the aim when demolishing a building is to reduce the amount of waste remaining.

Small structures such as two or three storey houses can be dismantled quite easily. The work may be a painstaking task of dismantling by hand – brick by brick – or beam by beam but by going carefully expensive materials are preserved for re-use. The value of deconstruction is that 90% or more of waste is saved from going into landfill sites and reclaimed materials can be re-used and recycled for future buildings. The farmer opposite my house sold his barns in the farm yard for housing; when the builder demolished the barns he cleaned up the bricks and reused them for the wall around the farmhouse thus retaining the character of the farm.

Modern techniques and machinery allows demolition companies to efficiently segregate waste types on or off-site. Construction materials are recycled and re-used whenever possible in the new structure making substantial savings in project costs as well as being good for the environment.

Concrete can now be rapidly broken up with a new machine called a guillotine. The creation of 6f2 recycled material can be done on site from the bricks of the now demolished building. This creates an ideal sub-base for foundation of a new building and avoids removal of the waste to landfill.

Copper pipes, lead, roof tiles or slates, floor tiles, wiring and doors, and wood panelling are valuable artifacts that are saved for recycling and re-use. Many specialist firms sell reclaimed old or antique building items in most towns and cities.

Tall Buildings

Tower blocks and chimneys are the type of tall buildings that may need to be demolished. The demolition of tall buildings necessitates expert techniques. The tallest building to be demolished lawfully was in 1967/8 of the Singer Building in New York. The collapse of the World Trade Centre after the 9/11 attack in 2001 demonstrates the terrible devastation that occurs if the demolition is uncontrolled and haphazard.

In the demolishing of tall buildings and large structures a wrecking ball on a crane can be used, but is rarely practiced because the swinging ball is rather uncontrollable. The proximity of other buildings is a determining factor which prevents the use of explosives to implode a tall structure. So ‘High Reach’ demolition excavators are used where other methods are not appropriate to demolish the top part of a tall building. Once it is down to a manageable height demolition can continue in the usual way. The various methods of demolishing tall buildings are by implosion using explosives, controlled collapse and piecemeal. To control the dust produced in demolition, water hoses and spray equipment are sometimes used and then it is called a wet demolition.

Explosions

The use of explosives in demolition is very specialist work and getting it wrong would be catastrophic. If for instance there is atmospheric pressure from low cloud above the implosion site, the shockwave may spread outwards instead of upwards causing the wave of energy and sound to break windows. If an implosion is not prepared correctly the danger may be damage to surrounding buildings where flying debris may cause injury to spectators.

For many people when they think about demolition they may have in mind the use of explosives in the dramatic collapse of a tall building. This process is actually called implosion using explosives. Implosion is essential for dense urban areas as it brings down a tall building so that the surrounding environment is damaged as little as possible. The collapse takes only seconds for the building to fall into its own footprint.

Because of the hazards of working with explosives they will only be used when other methods are too costly or impractical. Where there is a partial collapse of a building and there are still primed explosives that failed to go off, workers are in great danger because the remaining structure is highly unstable. At the same time the demolition has to continue to secure the safety of the site.

Health and Safety

The work of demolition is a much more technical and complicated process than most people would appreciate. The job is highly dangerous and requires experienced and skilled operators to carry out the work. It is essential that personnel working in the industry are adequately trained. Health and safety awareness is crucial in demolition services so it is advisable for operatives to have gained a Certificate of Competence in Demolition to ensure safety for both workers and public alike. All demolition work is regulated by the Construction, Design and Management Regulations.

Sequence of Demolition

An incorrect sequence of dismantling will result in accidental collapse of a building because the stability of any structure is reliant on the interdependence of its component parts. Think of a house of cards and what happens if one of the supporting cards is removed.

There is a strict sequence of events before any demolition can take place. Councils throughout the country will have their own specific list for planning approval in their area, but a typical order would be as follows:-

• Provision of Information
Information must be provided about the construction of the structure to be demolished. Details of its previous use and the appropriate demolition methods to be used, including disposal of hazardous substances, have to be submitted by the demolition company.

• Survey of Demolition
A thorough survey of the site to identify any structural problems, as well as risks associated with hazardous or flammable substances, will need to be discussed in detail with the authorities. (E.g. A disused garage where petrol has been stored is a potential fire hazard so preventative measures will need to be taken).

• Preferred and Safe Method of Work
A reputable demolition company will be able to select the appropriate method of disposal showing the outline dismantling process. Planning is essential for meticulous monitoring. The authorities will require a detailed statement of the safety procedures to used, and all parties involved need to agree the methods before any demolition can take place.

• Preparation and Planning
Issues such as asbestos abatement, rodent baiting, dealing with hazardous substances, disconnecting utilities, and making safe any electric, gas or other services have to be shown in the planning stage. There is a lot of preparation to be done before even starting work on demolishing the building itself.

• Protection of the Public
Safety cannot be compromised so where there are heavily populated areas around the demolition site the protection of the public is paramount. Any health hazards will need to be assessed and temporary services arranged, and people disturbed will have to be informed.

The above are some items that an experienced Nottingham demolition company must ensure they adhere to in order to achieve the necessary planning for demolition.

Conclusion

The aim in demolition is to eliminate an unwanted structure as safely and quickly as possible and in our modern environment efforts are made to recycle or re-use most of the old material. This is not a new idea although the word itself is relatively modern. On the borders between England and Scotland after the Romans left, a large part of Hadrian’s Wall was hauled away and use was made of the beautifully dressed stone to construct the new buildings in the towns and villages nearby and some are still standing today.

Demolition work by its nature is a very risky business and demolishing any building is a complex and skilled process. Next time you see demolition work occurring on a building give a thought to the people who work in a dangerous situation daily and how much is involved in the meticulous planning, regulations compliance, care and skill that goes on to carrying out the project to clear the way for our future.

History of Fender Jazzmaster

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

The Fender Jazzmaster is an electric guitar that was first introduced at the 1958 NAMM Show and was designed as a more upmarket instrument than the Fender Stratocaster, which was originally to replace the Telecaster model.

Features

The Jazzmaster also had an extra-long tremolo arm. The body is larger than that of other Fender guitars, necessitating a more spacious guitar case. The Jazzmaster had unique wide, white “soapbar” pickups that were unlike any other single coil.
The Ventures and The Fireballs were prominent Jazzmaster users. The Jazzmaster also played a part in the Indorock scene, with guitarist Andy Tielman creating a 10-string Jazzmaster using a red-hot nail to burn holes for the extra tuning pegs in his Jazzmaster’s headstock. Fender recognized the need for a purpose-designed surf-guitar, and introduced the 24″ scale Fender Jaguar, with a shorter scale, built-in mute, chrome decorations and more Strat-like pickups.

The Jazzmaster was officially discontinued in 1980, although some reports suggest no guitars were actually made after 1977 and guitars sold from 1978-1980 were old stock. The Jazzmaster was re-introduced in 1986 as a 1962 reissue model from Fender’s Japanese factory. In 2007 Fender announced plans for a ‘thin skin’ Jazzmaster reissue with vintage nitrocellulose finish.

Influence

Fender intended the Jazzmaster to represent a solid body alternative to the hollow body archtop guitars that were then ubiquitous among Jazz guitarists. The Jazzmaster’s short sustain and warm piano-like tone was not favored. Just as Fender discontinued the Jazzmaster, Tom Verlaine of Television and Elvis Costello started giving the guitar a cult following. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr is a noted Jazzmaster devotee, and as of 2007 Fender produces a signature J Mascis Jazzmaster model. Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo favors a Jazzmaster as well as other vintage Fender guitars, often playing behind-the-back solos in concert. Nels Cline, solo artist and current (2007) lead guitarist of Wilco, uses the Jazzmaster as his main guitar.

Imitations and Reissues

Fender’s Japanese facility is noted for the high quality of its offset-waist guitars. Jazzmasters are often criticized for essentially having narrow Stratocaster pickups inside the wide soapbar Jazzmaster housings, thus giving the guitar a Strat/Jaguar “honk” rather than the classic, mellow Jazzmaster sound. This signature Jazzmaster guitar features a solid walnut-stain finished alder body and a modified tremolo bridge for Costello’s trademark “spy movie” sound.

Colors

The Jazzmaster was produced in the following colors :
• 3-Color Sunburst
• Olympic White
• Black
• Ocean Turquoise
• Surf Green
• Ice Blue Metallic

Their pickguards come in Mint Green or Brown Shell colors.

In July 2007, Fender released the J Mascis signature Jazzmaster, in honour of the Dinosaur Jr frontman. This model is much the same as previous Jazzmaster models aside from its Adjust-o-matic bridge (the Fender equivalent of the Gibson Tune-o-matic bridge), and its unusual purple sparkle finish. It is currently the only model of Jazzmaster in production with a matching headstock.

shimano cycling shoes

Some companies specialize in one kind of athletic shoe. Brooks Running Shoes leaves little doubt as to this company’s specialty.

Brooks – For Runners Only

Brooks is the runners’ shoe company. At least that is the message the company does its best to spread around. Runners have no doubt that this company makes its shoes for runners, always keeping the individual performer in mind. You won’t find a selection of footwear for other sports and the choices for cycling shoes, for example, are limited to two styles that may also qualify as a running shoe.

Innovative Shoe Advisor

Reputable companies that survive long term know that customer support and service have to be part of the puzzle. Brooks is certainly no stranger to customer service or attention to detail. The company Web site features a “shoe adviser” on which the potential customer can list what they are looking for in a running shoe. The details about racing, walking, training for a particular competition, will help the customer and the company provide just the right shoe. Those who take part in competition can specify track, road or even cross-country as their particular area of interest. The Web site generally offers three different designs/styles based on the information gathered. The shoe adviser will also work with information such as male, female, running surface, body weight, even height of the individual foot arch.

diabetes natural treatment

Unfortunately, when it comes to Diabetes there is actually no cure for this condition it can only be treated and controlled. However, today there are both conventional and alternative treatments, which can be used in order to help keep the condition under control. Studies carried out in the USA have shown that the various different diabetes control natural treatments available can help to reduce the risk of complications arising by as much as 60 percent.

Although conventional treatments are effective, in this article, we are looking at some of the natural treatments, which are considered to be effective in helping to control diabetes. Certainly, there are many advantages to be had from using natural treatments and the main one is that they do not cause side effects. Where as those who use conventional treatments (drugs) will find that they suffer additional health problems ranging from skin allergies to tiredness and dizzy spells.

Whilst opting to use natural treatments for controlling your diabetes are not only far safer but also as previously mentioned reduces the chances of you suffering from unwanted side effects. In addition, the other advantage to be had from using natural products over those made by man is they are not only cheaper but are also readily available.

1. Pterocarpus Marsupium (Indian Kino) is a plant that contains a gum resin that is similar in looks to dried blood and is often referred to as Dragon’s Blood. It is this part of the plant, which has been used for centuries in Indian Medicine for treating various different health issues including diabetes.

natural treatment for diabetes

When it comes to treating the various different types of diabetes that people can suffer from there are a number of different things that they can do. In most cases people today suffer from either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and these can be controlled and managed very easily. In most cases they will need to take some form of tablet or supplement that provides them with the insulin their body needs. Plus they will also need to make changes to their diet. A diabetes diet natural treatment helps not only in managing the condition, but prevents any untoward problems occurring.

When it comes to getting advice on the right kind of diet for diabetics the first place to get information from is a doctor or other health professional. However, also the internet is now a great place to discover what kinds of diets are suitable for diabetics to use in order to help them control and manage their condition more effectively.

Normally when someone has been diagnosed with diabetes their doctor will have a plan devised that is able to meet their own particular requirements perfectly. It is vital that a person then follows their doctor’s dietary plan because actually regulating blood sugar levels properly can be very difficult to do.

In order to devise the right kind of diet for a diabetic a doctor will need to know about their current dietary habits and the kind of lifestyle that they lead. Then once the diet has been devised the patient will then need to remain in regular contact with their doctor to make sure that the diet is working properly and to deal with any problems should they occur.

Disclaimer: readers of this post should consult a doctor before taking any medical advice.

On Designing Your Own Tattoos

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Tattoos are an ancient body art that had its heydays before tattooing nearly died out. Lately tattooing has seen a surge in popularity with people from all walks of life becoming tattoo fans.

There are now incredible and amazing varieties of tattoos to choose from. It is therefore high time for you to design your own tattoo. For designing your own tattoo do not hesitate to be bold in your experimentation. Do not be afraid to merge different designs to create your own unique style. For instance one of the oldest tattoos are the star tattoos. You can combine star with plants and flowers to create your own design.

Unless you are lucky, you will be rather disappointed with the stock of tattoos displayed in online galleries. Very few have the originality you are looking for. You will be met with the same butterfly tattoos and animal tattoos. You will get an original insight only when you stay away from the tried, tested and the clichéd. And for inking one’s name is all too common.

To design a tattoo you must first think about what you want to say. If it is a message of peace, then think about the dove and how you should combine it other symbols to make your own unique statement. Remember a picture is worth a thousands words.

A tattoo will differ depending on the area of the body it is inked. It must also carry a symbolic meaning. To make a tattoo design you don’t have to be great at drawing. You just have to be good at thinking up original designs. The drawing can be left to a friend who is good at it. You can also hire professional artists to draw for you. They will draw exactly as you tell them.

The web may not be great at giving you good designs off the shelf but they are good enough to inspire in you some original thoughts. Therefore browse the web as thoroughly as possible.

(Profiting Online|Online profits|Online revenue) (Need Not Be Complicated|From a Few Simple Strategies|Simple Not Easy)

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

One of the simplest and most overlooked aspects of online marketing is that it’s not complicated. (Or more to the point,|More precisely,) there are (a lot of “experts”many “gurus”) who try to make it complicated. Aside from whatever motivation they might have to do that online profits (happen as the result of|occur from) one simple equation –

Traffic + Conversion = Sales

– performed over & over again

There are MANY ways to get traffic (visitors) to your site and (cause|get) them to take some action or “convert,” which will either result in more leads or (less frequently) result directly in more sales to your business.

So here’s the other simple rule — you only need to master 1 or 2 traffic methods and 1 or 2 conversion methods, and you will make money. (When you drive you only need to know two pedals|You don’t need to master the entire kitchen to make a grilled cheese sandwich), and you don’t need to know EVERYTHING about internet marketing in order to add revenue to your business.

With that in mind, there are a few basic traffic techniques I’ve implemented in some of my sites and client sites that have universally and consistently WORKED. Here are a few of those methods — but remember, you only need to pick one or two:

(Traffic Generation|Increasing Visitor Count)

1) Twitter (– highly effective for|is a highly effective means of) targeting your niche and developing the conversation with your customers and prospects. (In fact, it is second to none.|There really is nothing like it.) However, most businesses don’t know how to use Twitter effectively. They spam with “sales tweets” — “Look at the cool new thing I’m selling.” The 80/20 rule is highly effective — 80% of your tweets should be about something interesting, funny or otherwise engaging… a question of the day like “What’s for lunch?”… anything to get people talking, laughing, thinking… Also, keep it consistent and be generous with re-tweets. A few tweets a day go a long way toward establishing a rabid list of followers. The wrong thing to do is to Tweet like a madman for a day or two and then disappear for a month. Or worse, don’t reply when someone direct messages you or @messages you. That’s like ignoring someone at a dinner party when they ask you to pass the gravy. You WON’T get any dessert.

2) Video marketing (– one of the fastest ways|is a very fast way) to rank your site and get lots of inbound traffic. Keep your videos consistent — don’t show up one day in a baseball cap and dark lighting, talking about the rain, and another day bouncing in a jungle gym screaming about business leads. Consistent message, consistent tone, consistent look & feel. Also, be sure to put a call to action in your video’s description, as well as the full URL of your website’s landing page, and use appropriate keywords.

3) Article marketing is an evergreen method for outstanding traffic generation, with one HUGE caveat — mix it up! Putting the same article on 400 article directories will get you nowhere fast. You will get a bump in traffic from all the inbound links until Google figures out they’re all the same article and basically count it as one link. There are content spinners out there that alter the content of your articles automatically, but you have to be very careful here as well. Most content spinners change a word or two to replace it with a synonym, or they mash up the article randomly so the output is basically junk that cannot be read. It has to pass human review. So if you’re looking for a quality content spinner, ideally you want to be able to change the entire sentence many times throughout the article, and then have it spin those into hundreds of different articles. That’s the professional way to do it. At the bottom of your article, have a call to action in the information field; a blurb about you (the author) and a link to a free guide the reader can pick up at your website.

(Conversion|Visitors Taking Action)

1) Keep it simple. The landing page has to do ONE thing — get people to ACT. For this reason, it’s been called a SINGLE ACTION PAGE. Pear it down to the bare essence of what you need the visitor to do. Consider placing a video on the page with a very simple message, “Hey thanks for stopping by for my free whizbang. Just type in your first name and e-mail address and I will rush it right over to you. In just a moment after you send your information, you’ll get an e-mail with a confirmation link. Click that link and I will instantly send your free whizbang.”

2) Direct, direct, direct. Notice the video script in #1 above — see how we instructed the user on exactly what they need to do? And then we told them what to expect next, and what they would then need to do. And we closed with a reminder of the benefit — the free whizbang.

If you have trademarked the term “whizbang,” then I apologize in advance. ;)

3) Test, test, test. ALWAYS have two versions of your landing page operating at one time. You can optimize your landing page using freely available Google tools in the Web Optimizer toolbox. You really can’t go on “gut” here — the data will be you every single time. Even on PPC ads, we have literally seen the addition of a question mark in the ad increase conversion by 16.8% So test, test, test.

Conclusion

These methods work on any business in any industry. Here is some social proof –
